Stora Nassa is beyond dispute the most famuse and well known archipelago in Stockholms archipelago. In every descpription wich do claim to trustworthiness tell us that the Great Archipelago, as many old inhabitants called it, has as many islets as the year has days. A statement wich won't make it any better true only because itīs reiterates. Nevertheless the number commands respect. The place name archives in Uppsala has names for 141 of them, besides there are a large number of islets without names and rocks. It is a magnificent archipelago, wich in spite of the fact that the greater part are protected by means of a special bird protection regulation, and no access to these areas is permitted from february untill the midle of august, offers a great number of berthing places for practically all direction of the wind. In the past Stora Nassa had domiciled inhabitants. In the nineteenth century was as many as 38 individuals recorded in the examination list from that age.
